What is the Ballroom Association of UW-Madison?
Would you like to learn to dance to latin, swing, ballroom, and nightclub music?
Want to meet new friends at the UW?
Then BAM is the student organization for you!
Who can attend BAM sponsored events?
You never need to bring a partner with you to a lesson or dance.
You don't even have to know how to dance! In fact, before most of our dances, we provide group lessons. Just check out our Dance Schedule!
Attendance at BAM sponsored events is limited to UW-System students, faculty, staff, and members of the club. If you are a student, faculty, staff, or member of the club, you are welcome to invite up to 2 persons who do not fit those requirements to an event. Anyone who does not fit the requirements may still join the club. However, we occasionally have to suspend new non-student memberships temporarily to ensure our UW student membership numbers remain above 75%.
What do I get by being a member?
The group lessons before our dance events are free for BAM members. Additionally, you will receive substantial discounts on admissions to dances, classes, and workshops!

What if I don't know how to dance?
Before most of our dances, we have professional dance instructors or highly skilled amateurs teaching intermediate and beginner level dance lessons. If you're interested in refining your skills, you can come to our weekly Lesson Series on Wednesday evenings.
There are also many experienced dancers, often distinguished by yellow badges, who are happy to show you some basic dance steps at the social dances. Just ask someone to dance or stop by the admissions table. The person working there can usually introduce you to someone with dance instruction experience.

Council Positions Open!
The BAM elections are less than a month away, and all Council positions are open for running! Several of our current members are seeking re-election, and there is currently nobody running for Music Coordinator or Instruction Coordinator for next semester! Council positions are open to all members, though a few positions must be filled by students. Council members keep BAM running smoothly, and receive free admission to all BAM events! Interested?
