Let us prove to you that there’s no such thing as “can’t dance!” *Join our Facebook group to receive dance event invites!* *Subscribe to BAM's weekly email newsletter* Who Can Attend BAM Sponsored Events?You never need to bring a partner with you to a lesson or dance.
You don't even have to know how to dance! In fact, before most of our dances, we provide group lessons. Just check out our Dance Schedule! Anyone is welcome to attend BAM sponsored events, but if you're not a UW student, faculty, staff member, BAM member, or the guest of one, please e-mail us so we can list you as a guest of the council. If you do fall into one or more of these categories, you are welcome to invite up to 2 guests who do not fit those requirements to an event. Anyone may join the club and membership is Free for students. -- see our Membership page! If you would like to attend an event and do not fall into any of the categories above, simply contact us, and we will treat you as a guest of the Council. Aiming to improve your skills in Ballroom or Latin dancing?BAM teaches lessons at the beginning of every social dance and frequently teach lesson series. If you are looking to further improve your skills, or want help getting started, another great option is joining BBDT. The Badger Ballroom Dance Team is BAM's sister club and members of each club are encouraged to become members of the other. BBDT teaches lessons in Ballroom and Latin dance that are aimed at multiple skill levels throughout the school year and the summer. Never danced before? Years of experience? There is a class for you with BBDT. Check out BBDT's website or their Facebook page for more information.
What if I Don't Know How to Dance?No problem! Before most of our dances, an instructor will teach a beginner level dance lessons. If you're interested in refining your skills, you can come to our weekly Lesson Series on weekday evenings.
There are also many experienced dancers who are happy to show you some basic dance steps at the social dances. Just ask someone to dance or stop by the admissions table. The person working there can usually introduce you to someone with dance instruction experience. More questions? See our FAQ page!
